Fountain Retires after 48 years
Earl Fountain has retired from CHEC after 48 years of dedicated service.
Earl began his career at CHEC as an apprentice lineman in 1978. Through training and time on the job he was promoted to Lineman First Class, and building on experience later took on rolls as Operations and Safety Supervisor and Manager of Operations.
When asked about the most memorable parts of his career, Earl answered, “Restoring power to our communities after coastal storms and hurricanes was some of the hardest yet rewarding and memorable work. I’ll especially remember the camaraderie that occurs when working with mutual aid crews from other cooperatives and contractors during storm restoration.”
To recognize Earl’s unwavering commitment to the cooperative and its members, CHEC officially named the new operations center in Buxton the William E. Fountain Operations Center in his honor.
Earl leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication and mentorship at CHEC and his impact will be felt for years to come. We congratulation him on this tremendous accomplishment and wish him a bright future!
